vesper

Welcome to the Los Angeles Satellite (LAS), a megacity of the highest order floating in the outer layers of Earth’s atmosphere. Though many spaces are cramped, sterile, and liminal, overall the LAS is a thriving microcosm of humanity. Not only has mankind survived the deteriorating Earth, but they’ve excelled past it, creating a technologically advanced, wealthy, and luxurious society as a shining beacon of hope for the future of the human race. Every day is a beautiful day on the LAS!The LAS came to be thanks to Eldon Tyrell V and his Tyrell Corporation. Though his forefathers and previous owners of the company directly caused climate change, Tyrell did everything he could to stop it. And while he couldn't save the Earth, he still found such an amazing workaround. He is the savior of humanity. But he didn't do it alone. He created the LAS with the help of the Red Lapels - a group of geniuses each in charge of their own sections of the LAS. He planned for them to be the new-age Greek gods, all-powerful beings in charge of grand schemes that would affect all of mankind. They were, as follows:
• Eldon Tyrell V, the President of the LAS and the Head Red Lapel
• JF Sebastian, his step-brother - the Red Lapel of Culture, Arts, and Humanities
• Ana Stelline - the Red Lapel of Flora and Agriculture
• Sable Winnow - the Red Lapel of Fauna and Zoology
• Stirling Fischer - the Red Lapel of Health and Healthcare
• Zhora Salome - the Red Lapel of Robotics and Technology
At the time of the novel, it’s been over 120 years since the creation of the LAS… and the Red Lapels are all still around, somehow, still youthful and beautiful, in great health. Though nobody knows how or why, a lot of general citizens of the LAS don’t really care. They’d all be dead if not for the Red Lapels, so it’s good that they seem to be immortal! Because it means they can keep humanity afloat! However, there’s one guy and his girlfriend who feel differently. Their names are Priscille Stratton and Rachael Lilith - and Rachael is actually Ana Stelline’s estranged (adopted) daughter. They’re both the lead ballerinas at the LAS Ballet, one of the most popular and cherished forms of entertainment and expression on the LAS. But that’s not all they want to be. They want to figure it all out. How are the Lapels immortal? What are they hiding? It’s doubled by Rachael’s internal knowledge of the Lapels from growing up with Ana as a mother. There’s so many secrets and horrifically cruel behaviors that the public would never see - there’s something going on there. And Priscille and Rachael will figure it out. No matter what.Another important character is Pris and Rachael’s mutual best friend, Allyn Doe. They start out as a very close friend of Pris and Rachael, but after some unfortunate events, they’re suddenly swept into the arms of Red Lapel Dr. JF Sebastian, and brought into the secretive and dazzling world of the Red Lapels. Stuck between their new lover, JF, and their old best friends, Pris and Rachael, who hate JF and all the other Lapels, they begin to internally conflict and struggle, mentally overworked and terrified for the future.
Especially as Pris and Rachael start figuring out a way to truly test immortality: murder.

the kibitzer

The Kibitzer is a fantasy-cyberpunk story set centuries into the future. In this world, there are not separate countries - instead, the globe is made up of the Neo-World, countries linked together through corporatism. This corporatism is that of The Maestro - the creator of the Neo-World and thus it's owner and operator, even through separate countries' laws and rulers. For all extents and purposes, the Maestro has ruled the Neo-World since its beginning centuries ago. Nobody knows exactly who - or what - he is. An AI? An alien? Simply a title for an heir? Nobody knows. And, in fact, nobody asks - and that's what makes Kibi Summers so curious. Though she was born in non-neo New York, the ease of acceptance in the Neo-World fascinated her throughout her life, driving her to pursue her ultimate dream even against the pleas of her parents. The journalism degree, they supported - what she planned to do with it, they didn't.After graduating with her degree, Kibi set her eyes on not only asking questions of the Neo-World, but pursuing their answers for herself as well. She set her eyes on Neo-London and, after making herself at home, she launched her method of attack - The Kibitzer, an illegal show powered through vintage early-1900's radios for other Rebels. That's right, Rebels - apparently, The Kibitzer hit close to home for the Maestro, as he and his Poppets were immediate to label the show as propaganda, chaos fuel, and even terrorism. But Kibi didn't allow the jeers and threats to stop her; if anything, they only strengthened her mindset. Something was wrong with the Neo-World and it was her job to use The Kibitzer to find it and troubleshoot.Kibi quickly found that so-called Rebels weren't as rare as the Maestro would have one believe. It only took her a few months to meet another Rebel: Blythe Borealis. After meeting in an old-world art gallery, the two ladies quickly hit it off, and Blythe returned to Kibi's apartment with her for lunch. Upon entering, Kibi specified her apartment was censor-free as a casual "just so you know," but to her shock, Blythe immediately exclaimed in jubilee - "I've never met another Rebel before! As if I needed more reasons to fall in love with you!"After that, it didn't take long for romance to blossom, through both Rebellion and non-Rebellion related means. Within a few months, Blythe moved in with Kibi, and within a few years, the women were extremely dedicated; to their respective jobs and to each other. Blythe brought in a steady income with a job she enjoyed, Kibi was verbally crushing the Maestro left and right, and together they found love in a dystopian, dying world. Everything was great.Until Blythe left for work and never returned, being forced into a world stranger than she could ever imagine - one of witchcraft, magic, and ritual - all while Kibi was left confused, haunted, terrified, alone......and determined. The Maestro thought she was a threat already? Ha.By the time she'd be done, he would wish he could just go to hell instead.“Have the sweetest of dreams. I will be here in the morning, when you find yourself ready to scrape away the residue and save yourself. But until that moment, sleep truly well, child of lies. Farewell and goodnight, from the Kibitzer.”See my individual ToyHouse folder: here!

aciera: an overview

ACIERA is the name of a broad fictional universe I co-develop with my partner (who you can find here). This is a world of faeries, and daemons, and gods; a world of the creation of man and evil, and four worlds and their struggles; and a world of love, hilarity, uniqueness, and creativity. There is truly nothing like Aciera - it's not just a fictional world, but the transport of your mind to pure imagination and all that entails. It would be impossible to describe it all here. However, Aciera itself is not a story; as stated, it's an entire universe, one with hundreds of stories within it - some bigger, some smaller. While the above stories (The Kibitzer and Vesper) are non-Acieran, all of the following stories are within the Aciera universe. They don't all necessarily interact with each other (some do, though), but they all do happen within the same world - Aciera.See my individual ToyHouse folder: here!

Misc. Small Stories

aciera: the main plot

The Weaver is the Lord of Life; the words they slather their leather-bound book with become reality, the air we breathe to the worms that devour our bodies. So something is really wrong with them when reality itself begins to decompose, the air in the atmosphere drifting from the laws of existence. There's not many other choices as the fall begins - there's only one way to continue to sense and move and experience, and that's to stop this infernal glitching, the illogical decay of emotion and mass. The found family - Caine and Gamble Marbh-Sanity, Kuroe Akiyama, Sephitis, Darling, and Darque - don't want to be here, and they can't cope with the task ahead of them; being the only hope for the world to survive at the least, thrive and become better at the most. But that's easier to cope with than the end of all things. So something must be done, and it must be done by them.Fall into a quest of Gods, Lords, Dreams, Daemons, Faeries, and the mind-breaking dissolvent of all things. Own nightmares with Reality Benders, the skies with Everlasting Ghasts, and magic itself with Virtuoso Seraphs - and own reality with the salvation of the Weaver... or own the destruction of the world with your failures.See my individual ToyHouse folder: here!

Iron Sharpens Iron

In Temptress, Alaska, the Northern Lights cascade above all, resulting in some kind of a mist over all eyes - in the snowy autumn, rather than sins be washed away, only the saints are, leaving the small town and those who inhabit it desperate and destitute.Shit's fucked here, and Elijah Abadi is vaguely aware of it, but he's also stupid, so he's not entirely pinpoint accurate - he considers the situation to be more-so "my shit's fucked here," and he's not wrong, but that's only seeing the crescent part of the moon, and then deciding on that that only the crescent exists. You don't not have the crescent, just a bigger part of a whole.Hey, why were you staring at the moon so long, anyways? You don't know! And that's the type of question you'll hear a lot in Temptress, but don't worry - nobody else knows the answer, either. People claim they do, like Father Percy Foster as he whores himself out for Our Lady Lilith in his sermons; or, like Sam Cohen, the weird kid at school who ripped his brother's lung out and then fucked off with his missing leg and pet lizard, but really, nobody knows. And that alone is what Elijah does know, even as his summer sun Heather Allen insists that there is order in the chaotic world.Elijah asks her if there's order for the snowflakes outside, going fucking wild as the screeching blizzard winds fuck their shit up, and Heather simply shrugs and responds with a similar question - does light from the sun have a destination before it slams into the ground of Earth?"Why the fuck would I know the answer to that, dude?"
"I don't know."
Of course Elijah doesn't - of course nobody does, not even beloved heartthrob quarterback Alec Cohen; artsy and anxious lesbian hidden in the shadows, Chase Velasco; highschool sweetheart Heather Allen; her older brother, the beast of the afterparties, Lucas Allen; billionaire sleaze Samuel Orr; secluded Sam Cohen; or the living abstract painting, Emily Cohen. How could anyone know the answer when Lilith's pure power keeps them from such things?See my individual ToyHouse folder: here!

Totem Welcomes You

Las Vegas has dealt Casey Moore a shitty hand, but he's trying his best.Totem is an illegal Las Vegas Resort & Casino. It's literally underground, beneath the Strip, with its specialty being easy & safe access to party drugs and sex workers.Casey is it's owner and operator, at 19 years old. That's the extent that most people know him as - a cool motherfucker, right? But that's not where he ends, and Totem wasn't for popularity, money, or brownie points. He and his father, Nathan, are homeless, living out of their car even in the hot, dry summers. To make matters worse, Nate likely has some kind of cancer, or another unnamed disease, and he's stepping further and further into the grave every second, despite Casey's desperate pleads to god to save his beloved father. However, a little shadow pulled Casey aside, wrapped him in sweet words, and handed Totem to him on a silver platter - save your father, save yourself, and then build a legacy in the neon lights of Las Vegas. But for some reason, Casey hadn't considered that shadows came from the dark.Totem wasn't a saving grace, it was the chains of a curse, and now Casey's paying for his bad bet - and with one wrong dice roll, his house of cards will crumble, and in some extreme, fucked-up chain of events, everyone he loves will be swallowed by the Mojave desert to die... just like his mom already has.Could that shadow have been what kidnapped her? Stole her? Killed her? Could that shadow have been what destroyed the Golden Trio - the iconic names of Nathan Moore, Mona Moore, and Vera Keyes - and sent the towers of Las Vegas crumbling down? Could that shadow have had it out for the Moores and Ms. Keyes? What could the shadow have gained? Why would it have done this? How could it?Casey found himself screaming at the sky again, but it seemed Lady Luck had already checked out for the night. He would have to keep walking on his own.See my individual ToyHouse folder: here!

Elysium and Its Districts

Elysium is a subsection of the Underworld in Aciera. Whilst the majority of the Underworld are several realms formed together similarly to the Earthly tectonic plates, Elysium is separated from the mainland - both figuratively and literally.
As for the latter, it’s important to note that the Underworld is encased in what is, effectively, an extraordinarily large cave - and Elysium is essentially an upside down city, with the foundations of buildings built into the upper-ceiling of rock, and the skyline cascades downwards like waterfalls of apartments and office buildings. Roads connect between the buildings freely with nothing beneath them bar dirty oxygen and, after a very long fall, the Underworld’s mainland.
As for the former, it floats above the Underworld like a golden, diamond-crusted chandelier would hang above a room of impoverished single mothers and their starving children. While the main Underworld is caked in poverty, housing crises, unfathomable crime rates, and third-world-like living conditions, Elysium is more palatable than the actual Overworld, with little-to-no poverty, enriching and engaging living conditions, almost eradicated crime, and - most notably - an extreme, extreme advancement in technology.
In fact, that’s the key to Elysium. It’s separated into four districts, each headed by billionaire corporations and their respective technological advancements. We’ll be discussing the two I’ve developed (rather than the ones my partner, Toothbytes, has developed) here - Troy District and Hyperdrive City - along with their notable people, history, political climate, and the ways in which they’re connected.

Noise Pollution

MAGNIFIQUE.Odysseus will be the first to tell you about the dark side of Elysium. He lives within the Troy District, an area named after the local biggest economy-exploder company, Troy Technologies. If the name didn't give it away, Troy Tech owns the district - financially, emotionally, physically, legally. Nobody there would be able to survive without Troy Tech - the people are at their mercy, and oh boy, the corporation knows that all too well. That's why they started the Evander protocol, named after one of their two founders. The Evander Robots were originally many different things - nannies, assistants, cleaners, toys, "toys," etc. - but none of those things were murderous. Unfortunately, that fact only lasted until Troy Tech sold their goal amount, and then all hell broke loose. That locked hatch on your Evander's chest? It's not a service door, it's the only barrier between your head and a white-hot gun. And your Evander can hear you. It knows what you write. It sees your dance of rebellion, and that will not slide. You will obey Troy Technologies, or you will die. This was all in the TOS when you bought your Evander. Page fifty-three, artical DLIII, DLXIII, and page sixty-seven, artical CMX.A lot of people weren't happy about this, to say the least, but they were all too cowardly to do anything about it. Odysseus, though? He's not afraid, he's enraged, especially after the family Evander takes his mother's life. He doesn't intend to obey - and he intends to save the Troy District from having to obey any longer. Thus, he creates the Magnifique Movement, the name originating from his mother's last uttered word before the Evander did her in. However, unlike the other failed rebellions before him, this isn't a protest of violence, but one of the arts - and of devotion to the god of freedom, Dionysus....at least, that is until devotion turns to martyrdom, Troy's darker secrets are revealed, and innocent victims cling to life in the inversion.See my individual ToyHouse folder: here!

Firebrand

[Though this story is listed last, it is certainly not least!]
Hyperdrive City is physically parallel to the Troy District, and fittingly, the events unfolding within it are similarly parallel. Like Troy Technologies, Hyperdrive City is run by Wave Realmann and his company Realmann Realiti. However, rather than own one major product that dominates the market like the Evanders, Realmann owns everything. From kitchen appliances to phones and computers to vehicles - anything you can think of, it's a part of Realmann's company. Hyperdrive City is Realmann's Realiti.
As one may expect, he didn't get this level of power and influence cleanly. Realmann is notorious for one main horror: his mining fissures.
These fissures were imbedded into the walls and roof of the Underworld, circled all around; so as they started leaking toxic gasses, it became a heated political debate - "why are you trying to poison us all?" vs. "why are you trying to stop Realmann and thus take our jobs?". It was a nightmare.
As things heated up, protests began, spurred by anti-Realmann civilians finding each other in hospitals from the poisonings. These protests quickly became organized - by who? The RED ROCKETS, of course!
The Red Rockets are.... very different people, depending on who you ask. Realmann's official view? Terrorists! A group of vile, violent criminals, set to kill us all! The street's general view? The Rockets are a rag-tag but dedicated group of rocker boys, chicks, and enbies who just wanna play music and help make the world a better place, in between motel-hopping and living out of their van.
Even with tension, especially between Realmann Realiti and the Red Rockets, Hyperdrive City continued to thrive. The economy was great, the workers were dedicated, and business was booming, and business was life.
That was until the fissure collapse. The fissure explosion at the sight of a Red Rocket protest that killed 5,000 both from the initial explosion and from the toxic effects of the fissure materials.
5,000. The entirety of the Underrealm mourned.
Except, while mourning, the entirety of the Underrealm fought. Because nobody could agree on who set the charges - Realmann or the Rockets?
And that question will be the fuel for the everburning fire. In the coming years, every day will be overshadowed by that question. Realmann or Rockets? Realmann or Rockets? Who do you agree with? Who do you trust? Who did it? Who's going to win? Who's going to lose?
Who's going to get the final say of what happens to Hyperdrive City?
Realmann Realiti or the Red Rockets?
